Summer's Here!

Summer is here at last...

The BBQ season will be in full swing I am sure by the time you all read this, maybe a few of you will have already had that first BBQ of the year. We have had a couple! There is nothing like a BBQ in Strathconon, one minute your rubbing on the Sun-Tan lotion the next your looking for your winter woolies and umbrella! But there is nothing more relaxing than sitting out in the evening sun chilling with friends till the sun goes down and then you can just sit back and watch the stars as they twinkle into the night. That is of course until the dreaded midgie arrives upon us! I don't even want to say the word midgie. I feel like they are listening waiting for that warm damp day and they will attack! We will say no more about the midgie and just hope that one day they will be no more.

I am sure everyone has their own summer adventures to look forward to, I know I have many festivals, concerts, weddings, and of course our very own Strathconon Games, which are on Saturday 31st of July this year so keep it free and come along and join in all the fun.

We are introducing something different this year, a Silent Auction. You will be able to bid on some fantastic prizes so get saving those pennies! The Silent Auction will take place on the day, however bids will also be taken on the run up to the Games. Please contact Lindsay Laing for more information on the Silent Auction.

Other events include the Hill Race, and this year you could be competing against the Gurkhas so you better be fit! Field and Track Events for kids and adults, Clay Pigeon Shoot, Heavy Events, Pipeband, Highland Dancers, Tug'o' War. BBQ, Refreshments.

Adult Entry £4, Concessions £2, Children and Car Parking Free.

Evening Dance with Cnoc Ciuil in Village Hall. £5 Entry from 8.30pm.

So hope to see you all there!

Happy Summer Everyone.

Kim, Strathconon.
