The wreath laying ceremony on Sunday 14th is at 3.00pm in Strathconon, all welcome service by the Rev Fraser Stewart.

Sergeant James Macdonald is the first name on the memorial. He served in the 4th Battalion the Seaforth Highlanders He died in the Battle of Cambrai which raged in the months of Nov & December 1917.

His name is also recorded on the Cambrai Memorial , Louveral Cemetery France, as he had no known grave.
He was aged 38 and the son of Alexander and Rachel Macdonald , Bridgend. His parents died before the First War began and the family stone is in the graveyard at Strathconon


The Lord Lieutenant of Ross and Cromarty Mrs Janet Bowen along with her Lord Lt Cadet Miss Casey Mackenzie  arrived to lay on a wreath at the War Memorial  Strathconon in what must be on of the last services in the County.The service that started at 3.00pm and was conducted by the Rev Fraser Stewart who's parish also covers Contin and Lochluichart and had already did services at Contin and Garve. A long side Mrs Janet Bowen at the War Memorial where local youth from the Glen that had turned out to remember the fallen of the Great Wars. Also in attendance Piper Hugh Watson of Dingwall.
